There is an interesting story as to why this cave in Tennessee is ‘a doorway’. The cave is at the far end of a “V” shaped ravine from which the ice-cold creek flows out into a grassy valley. At a time in U.S. history when certain men would hunt down certain Indians, the Indians would run deep into the ravine. The men pursuing would jump off their horses to follow them into the cave. But the Indians had horses waiting on the other side through this opening and would get away. In later times, outlaws used this cave for the same reason.
